After my freak out email to the designers, both called me within about 5 minutes of each other and showed up at the house the next day to address anything and everything. They also brought donuts and bagels - nice touch!
We talked cabinet "shadows", counters, islands, hardware... I think we have everything straight. The decision was made to add a bar stool area to the small island, which had not been thought of before. Additional seating never hurts.
Later that day brought a trip to the granite farm to look at the two slabs of granite coming to the house. A sink came with the granite, but there were several to choose from - and that took about 45 minutes... A sink was finally chosen, how about we leave it at that. Biz picked out a faucet (she has expensive taste, and would only look at ones where she could pull out the sprayer and use it like a phone). We decided to do a sink top bottom for the garbage disposal to eliminate the need for an extraneous light switch on the wall as well.
A few new lights were installed in the upstairs and downstairs hallways as updates and to match the hardware throughout the rest of the house.
I stopped by the house today at lunch time and the cabinet guy was there - begrudgingly removing the shadow. I am sure he blames it all on me - based on the 'tude I got from him, but whatever. I had nothing to do with that other than to say - it looks cheap! And it did look cheap. Regardless, he was moving the molding up to cover the shadow. The granite guy was coming out in a bit to measure the countertops, and those will be put in on Dec 2. After that, there will be tiling done in the back splash, and all the electrical/plumbing will be finished. Hopefully, that will all happen before the start of the new year. Ha!
